ATMO: Man Made Motion CD (RITOR 02 CD). "Dr. Atmo is a producer of ambient and electronic music since 1992, when he released his Silence CD, coproduced with Pete Namlook of German famous Ambient Label Fax Records and which was licensed for the U.K. to the incredible Rising High Records label. Till now he coproduced about 25 long play records with artists such as Pascal Feos (Atmofeos), Oliver Lieb (Music To Films), Paul Cooper (Modifiers), David Moufang (IF) and Blaine L. Reininger (Falling Infinities) and to much more to tell. Man Made Motion is the first solo production of Dr. Atmo and after the exciting Marvin Ayers Cellosphere album the second release of the new Mille Plateaux Sub-Label Ritornell." Strange, drifty static violation alien atmosphere all over the place, a very pleasing combination. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= other highly recommended listening is Dr. Atmo's - Falling Infinities "Kingdom Of Dreams" with Blaine Reininger. From those reviews, it didn't sound particularly worth trying to track down, but maybe someone here has another opinion on this one? FWIW, I personally like the Summer disc quite a lot, while the samey-ness of the Winter disc left me cold. :) - -- Brad - --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 May 1999 18:48:32 +0100 From: Ben Jefferys Subject: Re: (fax) Autumn B. I find the packaging (or lack thereof) kind of odd, a little annoying, seems so vulnerable. It is in the "continuous music chopped into regular tracks" format. I don't have the disc with me, but from memory, the first 1/3rd is crisp, sharp, echoey twanks and rushes. Then comes in a very nice sequence which goes on at a varying volume/filtration to a semi-climax (nothing too messy though) and a slow descent to the end. It reminds me of some of the Namlook live albums in a way. As some of the reviewers on 2350 have found, this is ambient in the truest sense of the word - something you shouldn't listen too hard to. But then I find that with a lot of Fax stuff, works best when you're busy. Bye!
