I've noticed that in all of the opinions/reviews I've read of this album, it always seems to be described as nothing but a low, rumbling noise with some higher pitched noise laid on top. At least that's the impression that I get. To me, that sounds very boring and monotonus. However, I always read glowing opinions and several people even place it as one of their favorite Fax CDs. Could someone better describe/clarify the sound of this disc to me, as I'm considering buying it? I'd really appreciate it! - --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Jun 1999 21:38:36 +0000 From: dakota.boo@pop3.hiway.co.uk Subject: (fax) Fax CD's for auction The following Fax CD's are up for auction. It's kind of like those monochrome Fax discs such as Cymatic Scam, but considerably warmer in feel. The "higher pitched noise laid on top" is just a synthesizer providing quasi-random melodic bits that are very pleasant. Kind of like the synth in Data Haiku. It's dull in that not much changes over the 60 minutes, but there is some inner beauty and I can see why some feel this has a transcendental quality to it. - -- BWY - --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Jun 1999 17:14:34 -0500 From: byost Subject: Re: (fax) Putney 2 I agree with the others that this disc does not have much to particularly recommend it. I listen to it perhaps once every 15 months or so, thinking I might like it more on subsequent listenings, but usually not finding this to be so. However, it's one of those discs that I marked with a wax pencil to remind me that if I program the player to skip two of the tracks, it makes a much better impression. Still, not in the upper echelon of Faxdom. - -- Brad - --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jun 99 09:47:34 +1100 From: Andre Subject: (fax) Octopus 3 - $10.
