I.E. if pete thought he could sell 10,000 2350 Broadways he would reissue 10,000 of them... some people on this list seem to think that just because 5 or so people online +really+ want a copy of 2350 Broadway or Ambient Otaku that there is a great demand for it and it obviously should be reissued... when in actual fact, it really is only 5 or 10 people... (unfortunatly) take the Ambiant Otaku Reissue project by PBE, he needs to gaurantee 300 copies will sell, which seems like a small amount on the global scale but online and in such a specialised interest area it a big number.... Seems he's doing TV soundtrack work - I see his name appear in the end credits from time to time. Last night's Channel 4 (UK) documentary 'Catastrophe' about a 6th century volcanic eruption featured his work. I was noticing how interesting the sounds were during the program before I knew who it was. Part 2 is next Tuesday, if anyone wants to check it out. Pemberton also seems to write music articles - I've seen his name in the byline in the Daily Telegraph at least. According to Ambient world watchers, the record is an illegitimate reissue of Tetsis Inoue's Slow and Low cd which was released on Pete Namlooks label in 1995. Its still not clear if this was an error, a prank, or an act of pure evil. and: Dr Atmo - Man Made Motion ...this is bewiolderingmonotone, retro, pleasant. The one word titles - static, motion, authomatic, vision - are sadly indicative of the general level of imagination, with nothing here not proposed and resolved in an entirely predictable fashion: softcore Ambient, past its (1992?) sell-by date. Fact and fiction meld together - Piss poor review of Slow and Low though ;) rA - --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 1999 08:44:04 -0400 From: Cyberspace Architect Subject: (fax) Man Made Motion Can someone send me the text of the story of the Man Made Motion disc and the statement from the record company please? That's kind of strange because I've always thought of ambient as being fairly timeless. I guess I was thinking of that because I've been re-listening to some old Instinct Ambient stuff from 1995 and thinking that it still sounds great today. As a matter of fact, i think there's at least a couple of people who have full collections...in fact, I think there used to be one individual who had TWO at one point. > > As an aside, does anyone know of a resource out there on the web for > finding out about forth coming releases on Fax? Well, as far as "forthcoming" releases go, what's posted on the official Fax site(www.hyperreal.org/fax/) is usually as good as you'll get...releases from Fax usually aren't listed much in advance. - --s2 - -- stewart fritz...... fax +49-69/450464 reviews... http://www.2350.org/ welcome to the electronic music center - --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 1999 11:07:46 -0400 (EDT) From: Ken Alexander Subject: Re: (fax) 2350 Broadway availability correction > My Apologies.. > 2350 Broadway 1 (2xcd) on Ambient World is in fact Sold out. Namlook's stated reason for not reissuing Ambiant Otaku was that people kept saying they wanted 2350B1 reissued, and he did, but then it didn't sell very well and he was left with a bunch of unsold 2350B1 AW reissues.
