Slow and Low is now playing.. i cant say enough how amazing this disc is... few people i know share my view on this.. only one person i physically know and a few online enigmas like the PhonAut.. at first i thought it boring noise but after one evening when it was on loop i was hooked and now wonder how i ever thought it was anything but awesome.. in the same style as World Reciever but more synthetic and sinister.. Pete namlook even told me that he did not like slow and low and yet released it through respect for Tetsu.. I wonder how many times he listened to it.. andrEz. andre@faxlabel.com Australian distribution & mailorder for Fax + 49-69/450464 Germany http://www.hyperreal.org/fax/ http://www.2350.org fax email list - mailto:faxlist-request@2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Feb 2001 04:46:34 From: "Jeff Shoemaker" Subject: Re: (fax) recent players >Pete namlook even told me that he did not like slow and low and yet >released >it through respect for Tetsu.. I wonder how many times he listened to it.. that really strikes me as odd. SaL seems like something that Namlook should be doing cartwheels over. it's just his style innit? weird. the disc seems perfectly representative of the best that FAX has to offer. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Feb 2001 10:29:46 +0100 From: "stm" Subject: R: (fax) recent players > at first i thought it boring noise but after one evening when it was on loop > i was hooked and now wonder how i ever thought it was anything but > awesome.. I remember when I first listened to Slow and Low: I went to the shop and bought Sad World 3, went back home unsealed it and put it into the player and immediately remained hypnotized by the sound, then started wondering why it didn't sound eastern at all and why the player displaied 6 tracks instead of the 3 credited on the booklet, started enquiring and discovered that, while all of the artwork and the print on the cd were of SW3, the music was actually that of S&L (the cat.no. printed on the back of the cd was ps08/80). It was a defective copy. This is by far the most 'musical' of the post-World Receiver solo output! Still working in the microsound style, Inoue further evolves the process into this marvelous ambient glitch oasis. A thin granular film tears, giving way to an avalanche of tumbling melodies swept into a whirlwind current, some glowing bytes momentarily snagged on a thicket of digital brambles. If you've been holding out on non-Fax Inoue on the pretense of it being too 'harsh,' i highly recommend you give this one a chance as it will likely speak to you from a comfortable distance. n. . . . . . . ..... . . . . . .
