I see I am regarded as something of a party pooper! WIsh Id never said anything about trades now (for a real taste of watsed bandwidth check out the napster debate on the amb. list though!) I was playing a Koner's Aubrite and having thought my speakers are quite reasonable I discovered that the chattering noise in the corner of my room was not a dangerous and rare insect but actually my speaker labouring to cope with the sub-bass in this track - anyone got suggestions for mid-priced speakers that really churn out this kind of bass? The deep bass on Octopus 3 (I think) was cracking stuff but not as low freq. as this stuff. There's still plenty of mileage in it yet, the old ones are the best! Know what you mean about napster stuff - can honestly say I've never even stopped to read any of the postings. Is it a US thing, yapping on about it I mean? Faxlist seems to have a better European (oh yeah, and Pacific Basin!) balance don't you think? Tired of seeing playlists for US radio too. >I was playing a Koner's Aubrite and having thought my speakers are quite >reasonable I discovered that the chattering noise in the corner of my room >was not a dangerous and rare insect but actually my speaker labouring to >cope with the sub-bass in this track - anyone got suggestions for >mid-priced speakers that really churn out this kind of bass? The deep bass >on Octopus 3 (I think) was cracking stuff but not as low freq. as this >stuff. Sorry for such a nerdy thread-starter! Got Kaamos or Permafrost yet ... they're even better, imo. I got these rather tasty (soundwise) speakers, only about 30cm high, direct from Richard Allen a few years back, for not much over a hundred squid at that time. They seem to handle bass exceptionally well. They're UK based, assuming of course they're still going. What made them so cheap was they only supply(ied) direct, no retail! Even 'shielded' them for an extra tenner. Mind you, even allowing for supply-direct and inflation, that only equate to an outlay of about two hundred tops. I suppose some would say that's budget, not mid-price. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 16:25:04 +0000 From: "Paul Milligan" Subject: (fax) Nerdy clarification >There's still plenty of mileage in it yet ... Staying on topic (HIA)I still have a brand new copy of his solo release, Freefloater, up for trade. I'll straight swop it for LSG's Into Deep or Vir Unis' Drift Inside. However, what I'm really after is a copy of +N Plane so if anyone is interested in trading their copy, I can top up Freefloater with cash or, a cdr of another out-of-print rare Fax (got about 25). ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2001 13:19:25 +0100 (CET) From: Philippe Vannerem Subject: Re: (fax) polar sequences > > Polar Sequences (biosphere VS HIA) is the best thing ive heard this year.. > > andre@faxlabel.com I am after that one ! Big sigh... What a pity that releases who make it to all time top 5 ambient lists of some music connaisseurs, are not widely available...
