Why dont we get IDM/ambient singles like we used to in 92-96? Birmingham Freq's is super-cool and the video/art cd rom bit of it is very nice indeed, the strumming opening sounds along with the ducks and children has a classic aspect to it. Biosphere's Cirque is super-chilled ambience as well but some stomping bassline wouldnt be an unwelcome return! OK, so I better say something about FAX - hmm, Id still appreciate some considered views on Outland 4 and JC 5, are they really so boring? Not many on the FAX list seem to be getting what they want from the label anymore or is that going too far? I chucked Bedroom on late last night after a large amount of alcohol and it sounded so freakish, those screaming echos were a little too much but the fade into a warmer ambience was made all the more pleasant! cheers! rA ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2001 08:37:40 -0500 From: "Bennett, Michael" Subject: RE: (fax) views rA, et. al. Yet another rave recommendation for alcohol! :^) I am slowly picking up a mixture of good current stuff (Paap 2, Audio, Possible Gardens) and sifting through the older section for missed gems (Aerial Service Area 2, etc.) as I stumble upon them. The newer stuff is quite good and shows (to me) that FAX is not dead or even dying. The older stuff is very impressive and very little sounds dated. All-in-all, I'm running out of room in the FAX section, a nice problem to be able to have...
