Very true and, of course, with human nature being what it is, when we hear a release that we (genuinely) believe has superior qualities to the vast majority of other titles within that genre (or, on a particular label) it can be difficult to understand, on an emotional level, why others don't share our view. >...these two men didn't nearly come close to realizing the >product they could have, given more hi-tech equipment. I agree in the sense that this underscores just how strong Shellground is but, in another sense, I wonder if "more hi-tech" might have (even unconsciously) made them a touch blase and therefore, whether Shellground would have been somehow less painstakingly crafted. Do you know what I mean? Mind you, the issue of technology is superfluous in the sense that Shellground's uniqueness was an inner driven thing ... say like Pet Sounds was. >It really is a pity that these two didn't collaborate on another >FAX release, because ... Huh! We're back on everyones favourite here ... why we didn't/don't get more from Modular/Sol/Reeves/Meloche and all those superb, circa mid-90's, Sub-label luminaries ... and why Mr K seems to have closed the Sub-label down for good these days anyway !!!! (At this point I deleted a characteristically scathing explanation, fearing accusations that I'm repeating myself) >none of our social lives hang in the balance or anything, but it's >just good to see something instead of nothing! I just wanted to say that a couple of emails came to me privately agreeing on the 'cheesiness' of the Chill artworks. However, I was suprised by Edward's opinion on the original AW reissue of Dreamfish (fish in a suit) ... I really think that's a great cover, a typically fringe 'Dada-ist' effort, from the golden days of Fax artwork. I mean, those James Bond poses !... ugh. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2001 21:36:03 +1000 From: "andre@faxlabel.com" Subject: (fax) I was just following orders. > I mean, those James Bond poses !... In the tradition of the Nuremburg trials, My defence is that i was just following orders.. sure, i know, i had a moral obligation to mankind to put an end to such artwork before they saw the light of day, but, I was blinded by the devine power of my master.. (no nazi affiliations implied by my banter. just a cheap attempt at humor=81) andrez. ------------------------------ End of faxlist-digest V2001 #54 ******************************* --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org
