Many on the list are probably unfamiliar with this David Reeves title and wondering how it compares with his three acclaimed Fax releases from '95. If memory serves correctly it came out in 97 and, if you enjoyed the aforementioned Fax gems then, this won't disappoint either. Musically, it's typically weird and wonderful Reeves stuff although (arguably) not quite as consistent as the others. There's a little more emphasis on 'Otras-beats' and some interesting jazz leanings on a couple of tracks but, in a more irreverent vein than the cheesy jazziness you tend to find on occasional Namlook outings ... more subliminal and chilled in a similar way to early 70's Miles Davis ... which is to say, interesting juxtapositions of sound! Worth checking out. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 May 2001 11:09:02 +0100 From: Rowland Atkinson Subject: (fax) New series Arent these silence, DSOTM series getting a bit too long? It would be nice to see either some extensions to one-off projects like Bedroom but Im sure that is too much to hope for. If Namlook keeps up this concerted egotistical drive it is going to be difficult to sustain an interest! Indicentally what is the average life for a record label? I also find it slightly odd that FAX discs are almost only available by mailorder and yet the run for each disc is much higher than it used to be. Finally, isnt it amazing that you can still get many of the older sublabel etc discs? With such small print runs it almost seems a shame to be able to find them so easily. rA ------------------------------ End of faxlist-digest V2001 #68 ******************************* --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org
