Anyone heard "Hydro Electric" by Phonem? I acquired it recently, and I have to say it is a rather fantastic album. Sounds very much like Autechre/Bola et al, but the tracks build over a much longer duration (7 tracks averaging around 11 minutes each), with lovely ambient textures and washes of melody over twisted beats. Nice! Anyone recommend anything else on Morr Music? DISCLAIMER: The information in this message is confidential and may be legally privileged. It is intended solely for the addressee. Lately there has been a LOT of stylistic interplay (as well as artists releasing on both labels) between CCO and Morr. Both labels are very much worth exploring if any of this ilk is your cuppa - - especially the recent releases. I'm also quite partial to the late April releases from the Future 3 gang. Well, I was driving in to work this morning listening to Black Dawn off the original Psychonavigation release and thinking that it's possibly *the* most melancholic track Namlook has ever done. Originally I used to think that Laswell's bass line and beat combo (which fade in and out every now and again) spoil the mood but, even that grew on me after a while. Maybe others here would nominate a different track? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Mar 2002 10:29:01 -0000 From: Edward Jones Subject: RE: (fax) From Meglomania to Melancholia The one that always gets me is on Air 2. I think it's Track 5, almost Moroccan in feel with a traditional plucked string instrument overlayed with a pipe of some sort, with mellotron-esque choral washes coming in towards. Totall sublime and never fails to bring a tear to the Jones eye whenever auditioned. Namlook at his most downright miserable IMO!
