I have only heard a few in the series. I have just recently heard the first DSOTM, after trying to be non biased to the rest of the series. To date, I have only heard I II III IV VII VIII so as you can see, I have not heard V or VI as of yet. Is the consensus that V and VI are better than most of the series? I am not a huge fan of Klaus, but that is mainly because a lot of what I have heard from him, aside from his fax releases, sound rather new age (Beyond Recall). He does have some stellar releases that came out many years ago (Timewind)...but somehow he lost that sound. DJ Spooky's release "Necropolis" is not fer everyone. It is a mixed album of various artists, including DJ Spooky, and is mixed by DJ Spooky. Its very much out there in my opinion. There are some beats, which makes this not so ambient...but remains more fu*ked up than his other releases. It is my fave album from him to date. skipping the last track on the a02 comp...hey, its yer choice. if you are speaking of the review that was posted some time ago...I can just say that I believe that review was biased from an arguement on the ambient list. But as it was stated before.... bad publicity = good publicity jackthetab i think therefore i ambient #####\ _ /##### #( )# | _( )__ | #( )# ##### | /_woof/ | ##### #" "# | ___m/I_ /_____ | #" "# # O # |____#-x.\ /++m\ /.x-#____| # O # #m.m# | /" \ ///###\\\ / "\ | #m.m# #####/ ######/ \###### \##### /_________________TRIBAL________________\ http://www.superior.net/~zothboy si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Milligan" To: "jackthetab" Cc: Sent: Wednesday, April 03, 2002 4:05 AM Subject: Moogs, Skipping, Spooky & ambient02 > > >actually, I heard DSOTM VII and VIII before I heard > >any of the others. I doubt there is a consensus absolute but, these two are mentioned at least as often as the others and imo represent the most mature blend of their styles before it started to go stale. >I am not a huge fan of Klaus, but that is mainly >because a lot of what I have heard from him, >aside from his fax releases, sound rather new age >(Beyond Recall). Coincidently I was playing Mirage driving into work this morning - for me the definitive KS 70's release. I defy any Faxhead to listen to this album and not be suitably impressed (could even teach Mr Laswell a thing or two about the deep end). Beyond Recall represents a rather bland phase in his career. >DJ Spooky's release "Necropolis" is not fer everyone. Well I had it in mind and was therefore poking fun. I intend to listen with total objectivity. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Apr 2002 20:50:49 +1000 From: "Sebastian Pucilowski" Subject: (fax) Syn II After just quickly digging up some info on Wired, I was surprised to see Syn II listed on 2350.org. Its official expected release date is April 10th. Also, if you look closely in the cover, you can see a very small fax circle, yellow for trance.
