I'm certain that although Namlook never played at Telepathic Fish, other FAX artists did (Dr Atmo, Jonah Sharp, etc) and maybe Mixmaster Morris was introduced to Namlook via one of those people. Although I can't find anything on the possible Fish link, apparently Morris and PK wrote Dreamfish in just 48 hrs... December 5th was the first ever Telepathic Fish party in E. Dulwich, another vital step in the creation of an ambient underground. The next week, I did an open-air chill-out for the Berlin Love Parade, where I met Dr Atmo for the first time. After weeks of sunhine it suddenly pissed down on the Saturday and the promoters tried to cancel the chill. But I'd come 2000 miles and I wasn't going home without playing, so we created an emergency chill-out in the market area. There was already quite a lot of ambient techno 12"s coming from Germany at this time. I also made my first trip to the US at this time ... May 20th saw the release of Dreamfish on Fax records. In June I went to Amsterdam for a huge Immortality rave, where I discovered DJ Spacecake playing in the Melkweg cafe. http://www.southern.com/MMM/history/1992.html http://www.southern.com/MMM/history/1993.html - -- Riccardo .. . . . . . . . . . . .. musictrade http://digilander.iol.it/radioactivetoy .. . . . . . . . . . . .. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Apr 2002 10:58:16 +0100 From: "Paul Milligan" Subject: (fax) Ambient Books >"The Ambient Century : From Mahler To Trance" by Mark Prendergast. I offered the Toop book as a trade just the other day and was flabergasted that nobody asked about it (too late now incidently, it's gone to Dmitry) but, whilst not physically the equal of Ambient Century, it's superior in quality of content - by a long chalk imo. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Apr 2002 11:11:35 +0100 From: Edward Jones Subject: RE: (fax) Ambient Books For the record I agree entirely on "Ocean of Sound" relative to "Ambient Century". The latter, whilst covering a lot of ground, is a rather amateurish and haphazardly written book which tries to be all things to all men. David Toop not only knows his stuff, but as his writing in "The Wire" testifies, he is extremely good at putting this into words....
