Its rubbish. My son and I very much like the same sort of music and there's nearly 20 years between us. We are both on this list and ambient@hyperreal. It very much depends on your open-mindedness. I know friends who still listen to Focus, Magnum, etc. and have never moved on or tried something new. Please don't put up the shutters, be experimental, try new things.......you might enjoy them Colin - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Greg Hill" To: "Paul Milligan" Cc: Sent: Thursday, June 06, 2002 4:35 PM Subject: (fax) Re: The 80's > Well, I guess I can try to explain why Electro appeals > to me...first of all, its the first Synth music I ever > really heard(back in 1985)..secondly its UNIQUE! it > doesn't have the standard 4/4 beats(most of the time), > and its the first style(Kraftwerk) to use vocoder's, > and the synths used in a lot of songs are really some > of the best I have ever heard(unlike most SHITTY > Techno, DnB, IDM, etc..)...some of the groups that I'm > into(and by the way I'm back collecting all this old > school Electro).. The track isn't "much too long," and it makes the album a more cohesive whole. That and I feel sort of ripped-off when a Fax album is under 60 minutes. I put the track second on my MiniDisc, and it makes the album a nice 70+ minutes. "Rhds" makes #I (placed it 5th on my MiniDisc) better as well. What do you think? Peace. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jun 2002 09:14:11 +0100 From: "Paul Milligan" Subject: (fax) Ageism >I'm seriously concerned about this 'age' thing and that people >of different ages are supposed to like different sorts of music. Seriously Colin, I don't believe that either Greg or myself said that. >My son and I very much like the same sort of music and there's nearly >20 years between us. Ditto, although there's 28 years between myself and my son. Last night we listened to some Rory Gallagher together, then went and bashed it out 'live'...him on his Strat' and me on my Roland electronic drums. (Incidently, he doesn't like Fax) >I know friends who still listen to Focus Two of theirs (Hamburger Concerto + Ship Of Memories) would be in my top hundred albums of all time. >Please don't put up the shutters, be experimental, try new things Wise words. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Jun 2002 16:14:46 -0400 From: "seth axelrad" Subject: (fax) possible gardens I just wanted to add my name to the list of those who have sung the praises of this album. It is simply beautiful. The tracks can best be described as layers of sound, from which melodies and typical song structures evolve. Reminds me of portions of 2350 Broadway 2 (monochrome/drone + melody), but less abstract and a lot more engaging and accessible. I know that this was the subject of discussion a while back, but did we establish that P. Prochir = redruM? The links on 2350.org appears to be making that case. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ End of faxlist-digest V2002 #95 ******************************* --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org
