Incidentally, in terms of what's most likely >to appeal to a Faxhead I'd suggest the one Unis did with Roach ... is >it Blood Machine or Blood Music? _yellow house_ would probably tangentially appeal to those who've been disappointed by namlook's guitar+ambient material as, for those who didn't know, it's guitar and synths. however, unlike namlook's jazzing about, _yellow house_'s guitar is all treated acoustic. when you can pick it out as a guitar, it's very gentle, but mostly just washes of chords and drones. definitely one of the best ambient releses of '02. i think _pulse n atmo_ would appeal to fax peoples too, especially those who are into biosphere's _patashnik_ and _cirque_. glittering synths over mellow, repetitive beats. i never actually heard the roach collab (_blood machine_), but i'd say it's a pretty safe assumption it's decent. speaking of guitars + ambient...there was a disc that came out in '99, i think...robert rich (or maybe steve roach) collaborating with a guitarist. kind of southwestern-desert-country ambient. i heard it once from a friend and loved it, but forgot what it was before i could pick it up. does anyone know what i'm talking about? ________________ micah@benthic.cc www.benthic.cc benthic recordings - soundings from unexplored places ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 13:37:02 -0500 From: "jackthetab" Subject: (fax) Re: One Flew Over ... sorry. Salvia Divinorum is legal still, but action is underway in US congress to schedule Salvia Divinorum: http://www.cognitiveliberty.org/dll/salvia_divinorum_action_center.htm http://www.cognitiveliberty.org/dll/sd_stpeters.html "The 107th Congress has officially adjourned, and did not pass HR 5607. All indications, however, are that Representative Baca will introduce an identical Salvia divinorum scheduling bill when the 108th Congress convenes in 2003." Sage wisdom: "Please donate to the Salvia Divinorum Defense Fund, to help the CCLE continue preparations designed to oppose efforts to outlaw Salvia divinorum." http://www.cognitiveliberty.org/drug_policy/salvia_defense_fund.htm http://www.cognitiveliberty.org/dll/salvia_rpt.html HTH TIA .o0O}seeklektek{O0o. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 12:02:47 -0800 (PST) From: dj monolith Subject: Re: (fax) OT - salvia divinorum Hello... I have not heard of Salvia Divinorum before today. I am very interested in this, however, I ususally don't perform sub-lingual administration of unknown tinctures before doing a bit of research first. I also prefer first-time experimentation with others who have done it before... people who understand the benefits and respect the source! There appears to be quite a bit of information online, however, if anyone who has experienced the effects of Salvia Divinorum wants to talk to me about it, please respond off-list. I don't care for smoking. That is probably one reason why this legal "!!" plant is intriguing to me. You can eat the plant or drink the extract, or "Emerald Essense"... Sounds very intriguing. I am putting on a smallish horizontal ambient event and this might be the perfect way to get everyone involved on the same trip, so to speak. I think I do. That is most probably Amoeba you're referring to, it's a project between Robert Rich and Rick Davies. In 1999 they re-released their first album "Watchful" through Release/Relapse. Followed by all-new material "Pivot" year later. Yes, you can say it ambient+guitars +somesynths+lotsofacousticpercussion. Laidback stuff with vocals. But, country ambient? That's a novelty ;) The second one, "Pivot" is more and more song oriented, band-like effort. I think I wrote about it when we discussed ambient+vocals topic. Oh, and Rich does vocals there, in case you wouldn't want to miss it. greets, Leszek. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Jan 2003 09:19:20 +0000 From: "ronny lehmann" Subject: Re: (fax) Re: Vir Unis (was Cheap Fax CD's) hi folks, it sounds to me more like the 1998 collaboration of steve roach and bass player roger king. this record is called dust to dust and was released by projekt. see this page for further information. the music on this disk is very interesting: those typical roach soundspaces combined with nifty bass and percussion. if that was the record you had in mind i can recommend it. seetyca der geist steht auf und seine feinde zerstieben der geist steht auf und seine feinde zerstieben www.geocities.com/seetyca >From: Leszek Zabinski >To: faxlist@2350.org >Subject: Re: (fax) Re: Vir Unis (was Cheap Fax CD's) >Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 00:09:53 +0100 (MET) > > > > > speaking of guitars + ambient...there was a disc that came out in '99, i > > think...robert rich (or maybe steve roach) collaborating with a >guitarist. > > kind of southwestern-desert-country ambient. i heard it once from a >friend > > and loved it, but forgot what it was before i could pick it up. does >anyone > > know what i'm talking about? > >I think I do.
