Let me know what you've got folks! Each of following are in 'as new' condition... Firstly, three early Fax classics: * Sad World I / Sad World II (2CD's on FAX USA & out-of-print) * The Whole Traffic (PS08/39 from 1994 & out-of-print) * Day In The Park (PS08/52 also from 1994) Secondly, three electronic classics: * Biosphere - Shenzhou (his latest, in a nice digipack) * DJ Shadow - Endtroducing (now legendary debut) * Autechre - Incunabula (another legendary debut!) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 07:09:00 -0800 (PST) From: Phonaut Subject: (fax) Virich re: Vir Unis Definitely check out BloodMachine, was a top pick for me in 2001. I have to say both of his new albums Mercury & Plastic, and Symbology blew me away when i listened to them. M&P seems to pick up where BloodMachine left off, and some tracks have a distinctly futuristic-electro sound. Highly recommended! Aeonian Glow is a beatless album (along with the Drift Inside) so if you want more beats then go for one of the others. And if you want fractal groove with your blanket guitar textures, go for Thermal Transfer (with Saul Stokes). Vir Unis also has a brand new live CD out called The Live Transmissions Vol 1, recorded with James Johnson (of atmoworks) and another similar live archive with called Perimiter 2 coming out soon. Portions were originally performed in 2002 live on my radio show HeadTheater here in the Chicago area. For more info check out http://www.virunis.com/ or http://atmoworks.com (there's also a link to Atmoworks Radio in the upper left corner of the atmoworks page) re: Robert Rich One of my favorite R.Rich albums is Beastiary, I found that one quite enchanting. This disc showcases some interesting synth techniques such as granular, indeterminacy and analog modular. A fine listen, i thought! It's difficult to disagree with your analysis but whilst I responded positively to Bestiary on the first couple of spins I couldn't ultimately warm to it. Yes, it's technically admirable yet it didn't engage me the way his earlier stuff does, or even something as recent as Seven Veils. Obviously a very personal response but... Incidentally, the one Vir Unis disc you didn't mention was Yellow House? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Jan 2003 10:36:18 -0500 From: micah stupak Subject: Re: (fax) Re: Vir Unis (was Cheap Fax CD's) At 04:19 AM 1/9/2003, you wrote: >it sounds to me more like the 1998 collaboration of steve roach and bass >player roger king. this record is called dust to dust and was released by >projekt. see this page for further information. >the music on this disk is very interesting: those typical roach >soundspaces combined with nifty bass and percussion. if that was the >record you had in mind i can recommend it. yes, this is it, i remember the title. thanks - off to buy... :) ________________ micah@benthic.cc www.benthic.cc benthic recordings - soundings from unexplored places ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 15:29:09 -0500 (EST) From: Warren Lapham Subject: (fax) titles FS Hello, faxlist. I'll soon be putting many titles from my not-quite-complete FAX (and RI) CD collections for sale on eBay...but this plan has been delayed while I am experiencing an unexpected lack of internet access at home. In the meantime, however, I am willing to entertain offers for most titles in either catalog through e-mail. I'm interested only in cash offers; no trades. I don't want to gouge anyone, but I will reject (or ignore, depending on the volume of responses) offers that I think are on the low side of fair. I may not get back with you immediately, as I do have to actually do some work while I'm here at, uh, work. If you send me an offer, please make the subject of your e-mail CD SALE. Before you ask, nearly every title in either catalog is fair game -- just ask. And, no, this won't affect 2350.org in any way. Don't worry. :) - -w. - -- http://www.warlap.net/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jan 2003 18:41:23 -0000 From: "Neil Jellis" Subject: (fax) Silence II - Heaven I'm slowly but surely building up my Fax collection and as other contributors have asked here before would like to be able to hear the full length version of Heaven from Silence II.
