It's not the only such complaint that I've received. I should have added before that the opinion in the forwarded message is NOT the official position of this list adminstrator, and that I do know that the parties named in the e-mail are not the only ones who stray from the prescribed topic of the list. That said, I do usually receive complaints when things flare up. I do not expect everyone to stay 100% on-topic, and I don't think any other list member does, either. But when I, as list adminstrator, receive complaints from list members about the off-topic posting habits of other list members, I believe that it is my responsibility to act. This may be an unfamiliar stance for many listmembers (I've seen some very laissez-faire list administration over the years), but I do take my responsibility here seriously; list administration ought to be more than dealing with subscription requests and inactive e-mail addresses. Part of that responsibility is getting involved in potential contoversy on behalf of list members who would prefer to remain anonymous. I think the fact that I have yet to receive a single rebuke from any uninvolved parties about my having forwarded one of these complaints to the list says more about the sentiment in the forwarded complaint than the steady trickle of such complaints that I've received over time. As I said before, I do not enjoy singling people out, but sometimes public censure is the only way to ensure that the message gets through. That said, I have neither the time nor the inclination to play "list police," so I hope the matter can be put to rest soon. However, I still, as always, welcome comments on the matter. All will remain private unless the sender specifies otherwise. - -w. - -- http://www.warlap.net/ (now with music blog) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Feb 2003 22:17:45 -0000 From: "David Calvert" Subject: (fax) FA Bedroom (PS08/62) and others Daniel Pemberton - Bedroom (PS08/62) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1577&item=250716828 0 Other stuff, including a couple of CD's from Jonah Sharp's Reflective label as well ... check out http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewListedItems&user id=dakota.boo@pop3.hiway.co.uk&include=0&since=1&sort=2&rows=25 Thanks, e-mail: dakota.boo@pop3.hiway.co.uk web page: http://home.hiway.co.uk/boo ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Feb 2003 06:33:58 -0800 (PST) From: ambient Subject: (fax) Silence? - --- Warren Lapham wrote: > I should have added before that the opinion in the > forwarded message is NOT the official position of this > list adminstrator, and that I do know that the parties > named in the e-mail are not the only ones who stray from > the prescribed topic of > the list. I like the 5% edge of personality on this list and other lists. As an example, beyond the obvious of andre's artwork to the FAX label, i like knowing that he went on a European vacation at the end of last year. I like knowing Wallace's one and a half year old child, DJ JAllen (almost two now, i imagine), enjoys electronic and Fax music. I like the link he sent to the list of his child wearing headphones. (i miss my dreadlocks too, Wallace!, why did you cut!?) Furthermore, i like knowing of sansserifgrafik' shameless iPod plug, MuzikJunky's Yahoo's wonderful security warning, etc,.. i like knowing. Since i am in the mood to share...I'll share some personal info with this list, 1. I LIVE IN TOKYO. if any list member visits this crazy metropolis and wants an afternoon with yours beloved, drop me a note and i'll take you to the cream of the crop music shops to find some FAX/Electronic treasure finds at some of the local/hidden music shops. Or b., you could try to navigate your way around this intricate mazes of alleys here to search the shops, one by one. Here isn't New York with it's organized grid. Shops don't have addresses, they have area numbers! Good Luck. Kind Regards.
