I just don't see whats so terribly special about 1 (even if it IS a so-called classic). And besides your sample size is small so for all we know most people do prefer 2 to 1, you just haven't run into them. I personally prefer 1 and yes, I'd call it a classic. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 10:09:32 +0000 From: Paul Milligan Subject: (fax) Shades Of Orion (was My Baker's Dozen) >> ... most people choose Shades of Orion 1 over 2, which confuses me, >> since I find 2 the best of the lot. Hence the purpose of the List's existence. On a personal note I do struggle a bit to comprehend why a 'Faxhead' would not particularly rate Shades 1 ... not because I wish to imply that their view is any less valid than the next persons but because, for me, Shades 1 defines the classic (read quality) sound of Fax as effectively, if not more so, than any other release. Incidentally, imo Shades 2 is excellent too. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 10:07:49 -0000 From: "Corbin, Nick (COMFIN, EEF)" Subject: (fax) Shades Of Orion hi everyone. i think it's difficult to compare 1 and 2 to a certain extent... to me, 1 is a collection of 'tracks' rather than the definitive single 'piece' that 2 is. i often finding myself listening to 'did you ever retire a human' when i want a slightly more 'upbeat' slice of fax, or 'biotrip' if i have enough time. either way, they're both cast iron classics that i'd *never* ever get rid of :) p.s. i wonder why the track title is 'did you ever retire a human...' when the actual sample goes 'have you ever retired a human...' Of course, I was mearly and idly stating. Mmmm, yes, each to their own. No offense intended, so I hope it doesn't turn into a flamewar or anything of that sort! - --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.hyperreal.org/fax + www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 14:17:55 -0000 From: "Lxacoustics" Subject: Re: (fax) My Baker's Dozen Hi, i actually quite like 3? :) I just don't see whats so terribly special about 1 (even > >> if it IS a so-called classic). cheers, matt > >> I would have something somewhat similar, but I'm much to tired to > >> think about it at the moment :P Still, I find that most people choose > > >> Shades of Orion 1 over 2, which confuses me, since I find 2 the best > >> of the lot.
