Does Pete part own it or is it just his official European distrubutor? What does 'official' actually mean? Matt (lxacoustics) said: >i asked if he could sell to me direct at a fixed price.'No' was as much as >he could offer in reply , very blunt and adamant . I've frequently found Joerg's responses to my queries to be very short and blunt. I always put it down to language/cultural differences (his English is still better than my non-existant German!). Or maybe he's just too busy to go into detail (?) Moving on, amongst the CDs I last purchased from CUE was Hubertus Held/Pete Namlook which I would say is worth getting solely for one of the best ever trance tracks I've heard on Fax. Global System is superb and ranks up there with such tracks as Eternal Spirit and Music Hypnotizes off 4Voice, imo. The rest of the album, whilst having some pretty neat beats on it and another couple of ok tracks is a bit housey and one of those 'once every 6 months' albums for me. If it wasn't Pete N I don't honestly think I'd be that fussed. If you've got the cash (and CUE aren't auctioning it off) I'd say buy it just for Global System. Russia seems to have it's own set of ideas about who should profit from music. a Russia label, if you can call it that, Ars Nova, is also selling illegit copies of many muslimgauze releases. it seems that the purist release from Russia is Stoli vodka. ,scoUt - --- sanvara wrote: > I would guess NOT. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Jeez, I've got a couple of EM/ambient titles in my collection (traded with another Fax List member) on this 'label' and I thought they were legit. Artwork and discs look as professional as the real thing and they even have a logo on the front saying "limited edition 500 copies" or something similar. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 09:34:50 -0800 From: Christian von Ompteda Subject: (fax) CUE selling new Fax releases on eBay Not sure if anyone's seen or mentioned this on the list, but in addition to Joerg/CUE selling "rare/deleted/OOP/hand of god" Fax CD's on eBay, it would appear that he's also putting all of the new CDs up there too. This sets a disturbing trend - will this mean that we'll eventually only be able to get any releases - old or new - on eBay only? Having to bid on each new release will make me very bitter very quickly. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1577&item=2510639338 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1577&item=2510639477 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1577&item=2510640047 On thr bright side, if you feel like buying Joerg's kitchen, that's possible too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25831&item=2308995831 cheers, Christian. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 12:36:41 EST From: RLynn9@aol.com Subject: Re: (fax) CUE selling new Fax releases on eBay In a message dated 2/21/03 11:35:09 AM Central Standard Time, cvon@telus.net writes: << will this mean that we'll eventually only be able to get any releases - old or new - on eBay only? I'm sure it wont come to this , though my guess is he will be happy to charge people more than they need to pay , still wonder if namlook is happy to cash in on his listeneres.Says alot and people dont easily reverse those kinds of character references. Our integrity is far more precious than an extra 2 euro - shame.Good promo for the new mp3 release but why no buy it now?and why no fixed price?he's milking people or wants to as much as possible........even on new stuff.........how bloody marvellous.Again hooray to cue for showing us what human nature is famous for. ps.my guess is this is the 1st of many mp3 titles..... cheers, matt Having to bid on each new release will > make me very bitter very quickly. > > + To post: ; to mail a person: > + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to > + Online info at: www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 14:58:42 -0500 From: MuzikJunky Subject: Re: OT: Re: (fax) albums - legit or not? > Jeez, I've got a couple of EM/ambient titles in my collection > (traded with another Fax List member) on this 'label' [Ars Nova], and I > thought they were legit. One of Mulimgauze's mp3-only albums, "Fedayeen," was licensed legitimately to a Russian label for a traditional CD release, but I don't know if this was the label. Peace. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 13:03:09 -0700 From: David Wade-Stein Subject: Re: (fax) CUE selling new Fax releases on eBay (RESPONSE FROM PETER) This seemed wrong to me, so I asked Peter about it. Here is his response: [begin quote] I thought he was just selling this on the ebay platform for a fixed price...as he did with the Ambient Cookbook to prevent greedy people doing just the thing he seems to do at the moment. I guess this is not on purpose...he might have forgotten to sell it to a fixed price and now its in the net and he cannot alter it. I will immediately get in touch with him about it.. FAX new titles should be available at a normal price...no "fancy stuff" allowed. [end quote] Let's hold off judgment until we find out what's going on. These damn things are everywhere! This "label" has done fakes of Coil, Einstürzende Neubauten, OES, Residents, Can, Steve Reich, Kronos Quartet, DIJ, C93, Popul Vuh, Bebel Gilberto, and _shitloads_ of others. All the ones I've seen have "Ars Nova" on the spine, with all info on the back in Russian. Many also have a circular "limited to 500" mark on the cover. Coil's "LSD" has an oval-shaped "Limited Edition" mark on the front. The sleeve paper used is shitty, and the color has been slightly off on all copies I've seen. Some stores here sell 'em by the gallon to folks who don't know any better (or don't care). From what I've been told anyone in Russia can enter a copyright office and obtain a copyright to manufacture albums. - -Patrick Carey - --- Paul Milligan wrote: > > > a Russia label, if you can call it that, Ars Nova, is > also > > selling illegit copies of many muslimgauze releases. > > Jeez, I've got a couple of EM/ambient titles in my > collection > (traded with another Fax List member) on this 'label' and > I > thought they were legit.
