There's some flakey spoken word stuff at the end of the disc. Kind of made me cringe... the rest of it is pretty solid thumping club music. It didn't blow my mind really... I'll put it on sometime when I have to mop the kitchen floor. Elixir of Life is WAY cool though. I'd say get it for sure! Dense synth sound, resonant bass... That spoken word stuff is goofy, huh?! "Once you made a choice to come to earth, you made a choice which path to take. It is you who cast the planetary forces and you who started with a cosmic smile. I'll skip that one every time. It's just too hokey. I can't take it seriously. It's a shame. But the album is very uptempo, and aside from that one exception, not ultra-cheesy. I haven't heard the Rother in full yet, but the tracks I did hear were nice. Very good ambient stuff. Later, Alan np:Pulseprogramming:Tulsa... It only got cachet 'cuz Alex Paterson put it on a list of supposedly seminal ambient albums, back in the hey-day of 'ambient house' and the height of the Orb's popularity. Of course, Hillage worked with the Orb on 'Adventures...' and other stuff, and Alex did stuff with System 7: he was all over the first album. Hillage approached Paterson at an acid house party, in late '89 or early '90, wherein Alex was doing a chill-out room and playing Rainbow Dome. That was how they hooked up, IIRC. Ambient hype: that's how Rainbow Dome got elevated to the status of geek love. =seek= ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 23:37:03 -0000 From: "Lxacoustics" Subject: Re: (fax) SOL hippy space speak fish rising is The 70's psychedelic mushroom album .....incredible stuff for back then....when under the influence....rainbow dome is also lovely , all those floating arps and stuff , doesnt have huge amount going on but has plenty of upward motion and stuff and a spirit i dont hear in much if any music today , warm and light and very colourfull when in the right frame of mind.. cheers, matt > In a message dated 3/4/03 3:14:13 PM Central Standard Time, > dakota.boo@pop3.hiway.co.uk writes: > > << Steve Hillage?
