First up for 2004, another Steve Stoll Solo on the sublabel.. this one venturing more into the experimental realm.. i like it.. Also, 'Was Here' his first solo on fax is quite excellent in my humble opinion.. good minimal grooves in the 4/4 sector sliced with short loopy drone/industrial sequences.. great listened to whilst in motion.. (i.e. travelling/driving) Namlook tells me he's getting quite productive in the cold weather too so i think we can expect some new solo work soon.... cheers. + sansserifgrafik twice zero is zero http://www.sansserifgrafik.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 2004 15:43:38 -0600 From: Trevor Cordes Subject: (fax) rereleases Does anyone know if PK remasters or otherwise fiddles with things before he rereleases an album on AW? The reason I ask is I did some investigating and found that a rip from the AW reissue of an original PK08 release results in different CRC's for each track. That indicates that they aren't exact duplicates. Could just be track space timing/etc. But I was wondering if he did something more... Maybe if he represses a particularly crackly early PS release for which I have the original I can tell if he does any editing beforehand. Xangadix would be a good candidate... simply the most digital error-full release yet (and yet a good release!). ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 2004 16:26:26 -0600 (CST) From: "brian" Subject: Re: (fax) rereleases > Xangadix would be a good candidate... simply the most digital error-full > release yet (and yet a good release!). Trevor, What exactly do you mean by "the most digital error-full release"? Xangadix is one of my favorites! :) - -Brian ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 2004 20:13:10 -0500 From: "jackthetab" Subject: Re: (fax) rereleases if you are not listening for the errors, many times you do not hear them (unless you are an audiophile) xangadix is one release that does have some mastering errors that were never fixed before production. there are a few other cd's as such. it is not until people start pointing out every error that you seemingly start to notice them all the time. kunst und wahnsinn, jackthetab #####\ _ /##### #( )# | _( )__ | #( )# ##### | /_woof/ | ##### #" "# | ___m/I_ /_____ | #" "# # O # |____#-x.\ /++m\ /.x-#____| # O # #m.m# | /" \ ///###\\\ / "\ | #m.m# #####/ ######/ \###### \##### /___ http://www.capital.net/~soylent ___\ - ----- Original Message ----- From: "brian" To: Sent: Sunday, January 04, 2004 5:26 PM Subject: Re: (fax) rereleases > > Xangadix would be a good candidate... simply the most digital error-full > > release yet (and yet a good release!). > > > Trevor, > > What exactly do you mean by "the most digital error-full release"? > > Xangadix is one of my favorites! :) > > -Brian > --- > + To post: ; to mail a person: > + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to > + Online info at: www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org > ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2004 07:50:28 -0600 (CST) From: Trevor Cordes Subject: Re: (fax) rereleases On 4 Jan, brian wrote: >> Xangadix would be a good candidate... simply the most digital error-full >> release yet (and yet a good release!). > > What exactly do you mean by "the most digital error-full release"? > > Xangadix is one of my favorites! :) Oops, I meant Xangadix 2, not 1. 1 seems OK, 2 has digital blips, clicks and clips coming out the wazoo (say that 10 times fast). I've talked about this at length a few months ago, without much interest from other list members. Are there archives of this list? Go check them out. And ya, Xanga was a good series. Weird that it never goes for much on ebay compared to some of the poorer (IMHO) releases. ------------------------------ End of faxlist-digest V2004 #2 ****************************** --- + To post: ; to mail a person: + To unsubscribe: "unsubscribe" to + Online info at: www.faxlabel.com www.hyperreal.org/fax www.2350.org
