Does anyone know if anyone besides Pete does A&R for the sub-label? I "ax" this question because I came across the site of electro pioneer Man Parrish, who was responsible for the 1984 classic "Hip-Hop Bebop," by a complete fluke, and discovered that he does ambient tracks as well. A series of four extended pieces, of 30+ minutes in length are for sale in mp3 format on his web site (www.manparrish.com), and I wondered if Pete might be able to give some of these tracks a legitimate release on CD since (1) they sound like prime Fax material, and (2) Parrish says they are unreleased demos. What do you think? Peace. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2004 01:40:22 -0500 From: MuzikJunky Subject: Re: (fax) A&R? > All told it looks like 2.5 hours. Actually, I meant traditional CDs, which would mean another sub-label series! ;) Peace. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2004 19:31:46 +0100 From: "matucana" Subject: Re: (fax) A&R? What do you think? they are quite good IMHO - I actually bought them. The durations are 56:27, 28:50, 22:39, and 24:14, what makes it two releases :-). Especially "Sleep 3" is worth listening to - a bit like "vrs-mbnt.pcs 2". "Sleep 1" and "Sleep 2" are similar to "recurring dreams", though not as sinister, or Steve Roach's "Quiet Music", or Eno's "Thursday afternoon". "Sleep 4" sounds like an electronic forest, with synthetic birds and insects chirping. I am assuming it is the same as the original release (Namlook receives royalties too) and I shouldn't expect anything different?
